Promoting ceeda take up in your area

The ceeda parent survey presents an important and exciting opportunity for all parties to work together in achieving a common aim: a sustainable, high quality provider base that meets the needs of families.

In purchasing ceeda, childcare settings make a valuable contribution to a national data set that has considerable value to external bodies. In turn strategic stakeholders have the opportunity to stimulate high uptake of the service by supporting its introduction e.g. by subsidising the cost to providers and/or promoting the service via existing networks and events.

Lynne Henderson, Early Years Partnership Manager explains why Darlington Borough Council decided to back the project

"RSUK approached us with the concept of ceeda in 2008 having successfully piloted the service in County Durham. We feel the initiative will have several future benefits both for our own work in planning and developing the delivery of childcare in Darlington and also for providers themselves. From our perspective, the initiative offers a unique opportunity to obtain up to date information on parent satisfaction with provision throughout the year, strengthening the evidence base for sufficiency assessment on an ongoing basis and allowing a detailed picture to be built up over time. Uniquely, the service will also offer the opportunity to benchmark provider performance against the EYFS across Local authority boundaries, enabling us to ascertain the quality of our provider base in comparison to other areas in the country".

"For providers, the service offers a professional consultation tool which can deliver a robust and independent evidence base for self evaluation and contribute to the future marketing of the setting, thus supporting long term development and sustainability. Owing to the benefits we expect this service to deliver we have provided a 90% subsidy of year one subscriptions to all private providers and to pre-schools and playgroups offering the Nursery Education Grant in Darlington."
